Yesterday, the Ogun State Command Police paraded a 32-year-old businessman identified as Ezekiel Igbokwe who was arrested for allegedly killing his wife’s lover last month.
According to PUNCH, Igbokwe killed his wife’s lover identified as Victor Olatundun after he caught him having s-ex with her in their matrimonial home. The suspect allegedly committed the offence at Peace Lodge on Itura Street in Awa Ijebu Ogun State in July.
Igbokwe narrated how he had returned from a business trip to Onitsha and met Victor on top of his wife on their matrimonial bed. Out of anger, he said he picked a machete in the toilet and cut the victim in the neck and hand. Unfortunately, Olatundun reportedly died on the way to the hospital.
Igbokwe said he committed the crime due to anger, adding that he never meant to kill the victim. “I met a man inside my room making love to my wife. Then we started fighting. The man was stronger than me. When I saw he could overpower me, I got a machete in my toilet and dealt him blows in the hand and neck” he revealed. He added that his wife’s lover died after fuel in the car that was transporting him the hospital finished.
The suspect’s wife Juliet confessed to her affair with the victim however, she claimed he had used charms on her after persistently chasing her for six months to have a relationship with him. She also revealed that the victim had been a business partner who supplied her with goods.
The mother of three also admitted that her marriage had hit a rough patch, adding that herself and her husband were always fighting.
Both Igbokwe and his wife were arrested and paraded at the Ogun State Police Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday.
