The Ooni of Ife, Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, was buried on Friday, beginning a seven-day curfew as the burial rites continue. The town’schiefs announced that the restriction of movement would begin at 4 PM.
The Punch reports the announcement of the restriction of movement caused confusion among those trying to attend the interdenominational funeral services. Additionally, local residents reportedly were unaware that the local market would be closed for the duration of the curfew.
