Edo election: PDP slams APC’s mega rally as ‘show of shame’

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC’s) mega rally which held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Tuesday, September 6 as a ‘show of shame’.

The PDP, in a statement it released on Wednesday, September 7, wondered how the party chieftains could be dancing and celebrating when the country is in a recession and Nigerians are witnessing greater suffering than they ever have in decades.

(L-R): APC chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, President Muhammadu Buhari, Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole, his wife Iara and other party members during the campaign.

“We watched with dismay the show of disgrace and embarrassment by the APC in their ‘Recession Rally’ in Benin City and wondered how the Party will gather in front of the people they have impoverished with their high taxations, hunger, stagnation, poverty and insecurity, and still has such impudence to make the same empty promises,” the statement, which was signed by Chinwe I. Nnorom, the party’s head of publicity division, read.
