The Ogun State Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes (NANP), took to the streets of Abeokuta, the state capital, to
protest the death of one of their colleague identified as Sitira or Titi, who was reportedly killed by suspected ritualists and dumped at a refuse site at Oloomore junction, in the town, few days ago.
The deceased said to be 23-years-old, was reportedly murdered and vital parts of her body removed before her corpse was dumped by her killers, and her colleagues in the flesh business are not happy with the development and are now asking the police to get to the root of the matter and bring her killers to book or they will make the town ungovernable.
The commercial sex workers, numbering over 50 and dressed in black, stormed the state secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oke-Ilewo, urging the newsmen to carry the reports of their plight, harassment and dehumanising situation in their various media for all to see.
Carrying lit candles, they chanted solidarity songs and rained curses on the unnamed killers of their colleague.
“You have done something grievous, you have done something grievous by killing Titi prematurely. The killers of Titi (Sitira) have done something grievous. Their children will die, their children will die, those that killed Titi, will lose their children.”
After their protest at the NUJ Secretariat, they moved to other streets in the town chanting protest songs and crying loudly.
