Teenage Ghanaian Girl Rashida Black Beauty Breaks Internet

Rashidatu Mohammed alias –Rashida Black Beauty, has caught a number of lips including women in the media and communication’sindustry with her nude video, which has gone viral.

While some thought she needed help and that her actions were a reflection of society’s failure, others felt it was a deliberate act so she must

take responsibility for her action.

During the 2016 Jigwe Award, Rashida Black Beauty won Viral Video of the Year award with her Kushmai recording.

Not everyone lauded her winning the award and also expressed disdain about the organisers.

“The organisers of the award are the kind of people destroying the moral fiber of this country” said a lady who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The discussion was on the WhatsApp platform for Alliance for Women in Media, Africa.

“I don’t think she has good people around her. Her manager only seemed interested in getting his hands on the money people offered her to help further her education,” another interviewee said.

One Rhema noted that society had failed people like Rashida by reducing popularity and fame to nudity and indecency.

Afua observed that “without controversy a decent hardworking person doesn’t trend”.

“You cannot do decent diligent work and make it in Ghana. Looks like you have to be dubious to have it work out for you. She is a product of our society, a reflection of our system,” Efe Plange, Founder of Sankofa Reviews said

Another said discussions should revolve around depression and its management however the discussion which started off about the welfare of Rashida Black Beauty turned into a critical look at what possibly contributed her actions and the consequences of her action on today’s generation.

It also triggered concerns about the role of media in promoting sexual indecency and the growing trend of sex tape leaks: “Social media sets the pace now”, “traditional media must be up and doing”, “We have to blame ourselves most media houses now pick their news bulletin from social media, lazy journalism”, comments from the page said.

The media is not setting the agenda right or maybe journalists are no longer setting the agenda.

If the media is truly setting the agenda and is supposed to work in the interest of the people in a professional practice then discussions around video leaks will be steered in a more healthy direction.

It’s great to have divergent views, the discussion grew more interesting.

“And why shouldn’t they? It’s a story? She’s a human being who deserves to be heard and seen.

That oppression of women’s bodies is the reason we have her. Let her have her agency!” someone replied.

“She would have trended and ended on social media, but we brought her to national attention through the power of television and radio,” Dela said.

It is true the penetration of radio and television in the country cannot be compared to that of the internet.

Again not everyone who uses the internet is on social media so less harm could have been done if the trend ended on the social media.

Just when the discussion got to its peak, Rashida Black Beauty posts on her facebook page, “Hello Ghana, I am sorry and I regret my actions, there is a lot of explanation to this video but I guess the harm has already been done so no one will be willing to hear what I have to say or tell them.

All I want to say is I regret my actions and I hope Ghanaians do forgive me… Thank you!”

Guinean President Orders 24 hours Prayer For Buhari

Guinean President, Alpha Condé, asked all Muslims in the country to hold a 24-hour prayer for President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

Condé gave this order while addressing the country’s Council of Ministers in a meeting on Thursday.

At the meeting, the Guinean President expressed concern for his Nigerian counterpart’s health and afterward declared that Friday be devoted to prayers for Buhari’s quick recovery.

According to an online platform, www.guineenews.org, Condé said Buhari was expected to visit Nigeria in March but was unable to do so because of his health.

As a result, the Guinean President asked that prayers be held in all mosques in the country in what he described as a day of prayers for Buhari.

About 85 per cent of the Guinean population (11 million) are Muslims; eight per cent are Christians; while seven percent are traditionalists.

Buhari had since May 7, 2017, two months after returning from a 49-day London medical trip, returned to the country again for medical treatment.

His long absence from work had intensified calls for his health status to be made public, while several Nigerians had called for his resignation.

A suit had been filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja asking for an order compelling the Federal Executive Council to declare the ailing President as unfit to continue to hold office and another suit mandating the National Assembly to constitute a medical panel to verify the President’s fitness.

The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/671/2017, was filed on Thursday by the incorporated trustees of a civil society group, Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International.

In February 2017, Muslims in major state capitals and towns in the North had also held marathon prayers for the quick recovery of President Buhari.

The special prayer sessions were held at various Eid prayer grounds in Nasarawa, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina and Kwara states.

Nigerian Car Manufacturers Innoson Motors Goes Continental, Sells 400 Vehicles To Mali

Nigerian motor manufacturing company, Innoson Motors, is set to export made-in-Nigerian cars to Mali.

The Charge‘d Affair of Nigera in Mali, Yara Abdulsalam, says an indigenous motor manufacturing company, , has signed an MoU with a Malian firm to export 400 locally made vehicles to Mali. Abdulsalam made the announcement on Friday in Abuja when he led a delegation of businessmen from Mali to visit the Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama.

He said that during the week, Innoson Motors signed Memorandum of Understanding with Taxi Plus VIP, a Mali based transport company for the expansion of transport business in that country. He said the development was the outcome of “Made-in-Nigeria products exhibition” held in Bamako in 2016. He said the exhibition was facilitated by Ginco Group, a Nigerian firm based in Mali to showcase Nigeria’s potentials. Innoson motors Abdulsalam said: “from the exhibition, Taxi Plus VIP approached the embassy that they wanted to import vehicles from China but, we told them that we have indigenous company in Nigeria that manufactures vehicles.

“They started talking with Innoson through Nigerian Export Promotion Commission (NEPC) and the deal was later finalised. “Mali is the centre of Francophone countries and has boundary with eight countries. “If the MoU materialises, it will positively affect all other countries and will increase Foreign Direct Investment in Nigeria.” In his remarks, Geoffrey Onyeama expressed delight at the development and described it as “the beginning of industrial revolution in Nigeria.’’ He said it was a good development that would enhance job creation and stem the rate at which youths embark on dangerous adventure to Europe in search of greener pasture. “So, what you are achieving can be the beginning of revolution in our country; the longest journey has to start from somewhere. “What you are doing represents a giant leap for Africa because it involved trading among ourselves.

“What I found so interesting is that we are trading at the highest technology level with the export of automobile, cars and buses to one another. “As we are now laying the foundation, the sky is the limit for Africa; it means we have broken that glass ceiling that is holding us down,” he said. Onyeama commended the Nigerian embassy in Mali for providing the institutional support for the MoU. “This is what the ministry wants Nigerian embassies around the world to be doing; to serve as small hub to promote trade relationship.’’ He said one of the ministry’s goals was to be a hub to promote Nigerian export. “We have many offices around the world and we want to leverage on that to promote Nigerian goods.” The Managing Director of Ginco Group, Mr. Godwin Oguzie, said the 2016 Made- in-Nigeria exhibition in Bamako, was to enable Nigerian manufacturers know that opportunity awaited them in Mali to sell their products He said he led Taxi Plus VIP to sign the historic MoU with Innoson Motors to export 400 vehicles to Mali.

“We sign an MOU with Innoson Manufacturing Company to enable Taxi Plus increase its capacity to provide urban transportation system in Bamako. “This is the first time a country in Africa is exporting locally manufactured vehicles to another country,” he said

Ebonyi State Government Bans Civil Servants From Using Facebook, Twitter

Ebonyi state government has banned civil servants from using facebook, twitter and other social media websites due to obnoxious comments.

According to a facebook user, Chris Nnanna, who shared a document online stating that the ebonyi government has banned civil servants from using facebook and other social media websites.

The Ebonyi government claimed the civil servants used social media to post obnoxious comments about them.

The ban did not go well with some people as they believe the ban was uncalled for, rubbish and not democracy oriented, one of the users said;

Wahala dey! Are we still in democracy or militancy

See Some reactions below;

Nwabueze Frank It can’t happen in this period of modern civilization. Pls I advice you use a better camera to scan the Memo, so we can read it very well. By then, we can comment on it for corrections cus that can’t come from a civilized Governor like Engr. Dave.

Onuora Chinonso Gold I think d governor should be too busy for this and moreover he is an enlightened man with much exposure. Personally, I think this is not real

Ogboji Chijioke This is a calculated plan by the Dave Umuahi’s regime to encroach /frustrate the Fundamental Human rights of the Ebonyians as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Chapter 1V Section 39(1 & 2) of the said Constitution is unequivocal and provides for this. How can a seating government shun it’s citizens from expressing their views/opinions about their government? Who then is the government and who is the government ruling? Even in the hail fire or Prison, there is freedom of speech /expression. This is democratic regime. Even in the military, one is still entitled to hold his personal opinion about issues though there is high sense of autocracy. No one should be intimidated by this letter. Go ahead and seek for facts and do more of your publications on social media. This is a clear evidence that people are sincerely speaking reading all our individual publications. Together we can achieve our dreams.
Long live Ebonyi!
Long live our great Party!!
Long live social media!!!
