“Rate At Which Girls Are Spending Time On Social Network Is Worrisome” – Sultan Of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar, has expressed concern at a development where social media are diverting the attention of students in the country.

Mr. Abubakar expressed the feeling in Sokoto on Sunday at the closing ceremony of the 6th National Edition of the Quranic Recitation Competition.

The Sultan said: “There is a disturbing development where the attention of students is being diverted from their studies. This is through the use of various social media like Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, 2Go and Instagram, among others.”

The traditional ruler urged youth, particularly girls, to stop spending too much time on social media at the expense of other engagements that would add more values to their life.

“The rate at which girls are spending time on social network is worrisome and this poses imminent danger to our society. Girls are the nerve centre of our moral and societal development and if they derail, the whole society will be in danger because they are our mothers and care givers.”

Mr. Abubakar advised parents to ensure that their daughters spend more time on meaningful things, like reciting the Holy Qur’an. “Doing so will make them better mothers and care givers’’

Billionaire Kidnapper: Police move Evans to Abuja, Tighten Security In Cell

Police authorities have moved the notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans, and his accomplices to the Force Investigation and Intelligence Department, Garki, Abuja for further investigations.

Punch’s correspondent learnt on Friday that the suspects were brought from Lagos to Abuja last Monday by men of the IG Intelligence Response Team to ensure unhindered and thorough investigation into their criminal activities.

Sources said Evans was kept at the ‘VIP wing’ of the police cell at the FCIID, Abuja, where other notorious crime suspects were being held.

It was gathered that security had been beefed up at the detention centre since the crime kingpin was brought to the cell.

A source said more police operatives were deployed in and around the facility to prevent any security breach and to safeguard all the detainees.

“Evans was brought to the FCIID on Monday and since then, the atmosphere changed. You now have more security personnel on duty as part of measures to prevent any unpleasant development. Some unidentified persons have also been visiting the suspect,” the source said.

Our correspondent gathered that the police investigators did not restrict access to the suspect in order to profile those visiting him and establish the link between them and the kidnap kingpin.

Evans and six of his co-conspirators were arrested in June, after policemen stormed the kidnappers’ den and engaged them in a gun battle which lasted several hours.

Members of his gang usually kidnapped victims in Lagos State but they had also abducted prominent Nigerians from other parts of the country.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, could not be reached for comment as calls to his phone failed to connect. He had yet to respond to a text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report.

“I Want To Marry A White Man, Nigerian Men Are Unfaithful” – Actress Sylvia Edem

Nollywood actress, Sylvia Edem, has openly shunned the idea of ever settling for a Nigerian husband, saying, though, she has no problem with Nigerian men but believes they are not right for her.

Speaking with Vanguard, the pretty actress opened up on infidelity in marriage and how love can stand the test of any situation.

“I don’t have a problem with Nigerian men but I just feel they are not right for me. I’ve been in one or two relationships with a Nigerian man, and I tried to make it work but it didn’t work, it didn’t favour me. Right now, I’m single and just patiently waiting for the right man to come my way. Nigerian men are not faithful. I’ve actually said I wanted to marry a White man right from when I was growing up. It’s not like Nigerian men are that bad but this is my own choice; it’s what I want; after trying two relationships with Nigerian men and it didn’t work for me, I gave up”, she said.

Asked what would be her reaction if she discovers that her husband cannot satisfy her in bed, she said;

“Let me tell you something about marriage, it’s all about love; whether a man can satisfy me in bed or not, if I love him I will remain in the marriage because I didn’t marry him because of the size of his manhood or how much he can satisfy me in bed. I married him because I love him so I should be able to stay in the marriage”, she said.
