Nollywood Actress, Mercy Johnson-Okogie Appointed SSA To Kogi Governor

Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okogie, has been appointed by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, as his senior special assistant on entertainment, arts and culture.

Johnson was appointed alongside 53 other Senior Special Assistants on Tuesday.

The position is the 32-year-old actress’s first political appointment in her home state.
A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Ayoade Arike, said the appointments will be effective from April 1.

Mrs. Arike said the appointments are to “plug identified gaps in service delivery, fill key positions with the right people and to broaden inclusiveness in governance by bringing people from more communities on board.”

According to the statement, in addition to the 54 Senior Special Assistants appointed, nine Special Assistants to the Governor as Federal Constituency Supervisors for the GYB Connect Programme have also been approved.

The statement said the appointment was to recognise and encourage outstanding contributions to the New Direction Agenda.

The statement added that the nine Special Assistants would also act as direct liaisons between the present administration and the Local Government Ward Coordinators of the GYB Connect Programme.

Mercy, who charges as much as N2 million to star in a movie, auditioned for her first movie role in The Maid in 2004, right after completing her secondary school education.

The movie launched her unto stardom. Her outstanding performance in the movie also fetched her other roles in blockbusters such as Hustlers, Baby Oku in America, War in the Palace, and many more.

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria has arrested a cosmetics and wine importer suspected of changing the expiry dates on products and putting new dates on them to mislead buyers, Punchng is reporting.

The importer, Mr. Joseph Udeh, owner of Jouf Nigeria Limited, located at No. 10 Faith Street, off Comfort Oboh Street, Kirikiri Road, Apapa, Lagos, is said to be a major dealer in popular cosmetics and home product brands. .

He converted two four-storey residential buildings, each containing eight rooms into storage facilities for products. A closer look at some of the cosmetics revealed varying expiry dates, some dating as far back as 2004 while some had expired in 2013 and some in 2016. .

Udeh whose shop is located at Balogun Market, Trade Fair complex, said he was a supplier to major retail outlets and some of the major department stores in Nigeria. .

Addressing journalists shortly after the operation, the Head, Inspectorate and Compliance, SON, Mr. , said the importer would face the full wrath of the law. .

“The volume of the goods that expired is inestimable. Imagine a product that should be used in wrapping up a baby in 2017 has expired in 2015, what will be the effect on the baby, of course it would be negative reaction on the baby. .

According to the SON official, many innocent people suffer without knowing the root causes of their illnesses, maintaining that the importer of these expired products are killing and robbing innocent Nigerians ‎of their hard-earned money.

Yesterday while my account was still under suspension, I posted a story of a Nigerian Air Force Airman who shot and killed his girlfriend, a fellow Air Woman for allegedly cheating on him.

Both of them met at the boot camp and fell in love in 2016 when they joined the Air Force. They were posted to the Nigerian Air Force Tactical Air Command in Makurdi. Airman Kalu aka Mr LoverMan put a bullet in the neck of Air Woman Sholape at 4:36am on Sunday morning in his apartment where the lovebirds spent the night. He then proceeded to update his Facebook status speaking incoherently like the lunatic that he is.

He left a suicide note, but the coward wasn’t man enough to put a bullet in his own neck. Don’t dignify this act of stupidity and callous murder of an innocent soul by a deranged, unhinged lunatic who can also pass for Lucifer himself, as an act of love by comparing it with Williams Shakespeare fictional character, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, as some idiots I see on blogosphere are currently doing. As the sage puts it, do not underestimate the power of STUPID people gathered in large crowds. How anyone will justify killing a lover because of infidelity in the 21st century is beyond my comprehension.

I have read the suicide note left by the murderous coward who is so lily-livered and chicken hearted that he cannot even put a bullet on his own head, and it made no sense to me. Biko read and tell me if you can make sense of the hogwash he penned down as part of his carefully planned murder and failed suicide script?

Airman B.A Kalu was arrested after killing his girlfriend with his service pistol and updated his Facebook page. He actually misled the public because he is worst than a coward and didn’t have the nerve to commit suicide. He is currently under Air Provost detention at the Makurdi Air Force Base and awaiting Orderly Room Trial in a military court according to Military law. Hopefully he will get a bullet in the neck after a verdict of GUILTY for killing a Service personnel is handed over to him, with death by FIRING SQUAD.
