The immediate past President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has assured that despite losing the 2015 presidential election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will win the next general election.
The former president made this known on Monday in Abuja while receiving a report from the Strategy Review and Inter-Party Affairs Committee of the PDP.
He averred that the ongoing efforts at reforming the party are “a clear sign” the PDP will win in 2019.
Speaking to the team in his House in Abuja, Jonathan said:
“Yes we lost the presidential election but that doesn’t diminish us. Every other party still knows that PDP is a leading party.”
“Losing the presidency is something temporary. We should be able to get that position back as long as we are able to get our acts together. I am happy that you people are working towards that.”
Mr. Jonathan also commended the committee for the report as well as the Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee for the vision in setting up the committee.
“This is the only way to strengthen political parties. It is a clear sign that PDP will win in 2019,” he said.
Mr. Jonathan was the party’s candidate in the 2015 election, but lost to the then opposition candidate, Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
A Facebook user, Onyechere Ugochinyere, has taken to his page to share the story and photos of an Ontisha born boy and his invention after he saw the boy in Aba.
He wrote;

Tonto Dikeh in a reply to a concerned fan’s open letter has revealed that she and her husband, Churchill Olakunle are no longer together and he has not called to check up on her and their son since she left.
She also said she blocked his access to her for the sake of her emotional stability. Read what she wrote below:
“Dear ‘concerned’ fan, Good day.
How are you and your family? My regards, love and greetings to them.
Now to address a little bit of your letter, firstly I say I do appreciate your concern. Then I move on to say thank you. When a woman leaves her husband, she takes her child because absolutely nothing else matters to her but the child. This is what I did and I happily give all access for his father to see him. Now my question to you is that did your source also tell you that he has never called for once to Ask how his son is doing? I will admit, I personally blocked his access to me for the sake of my emotional stability. While the Nigerian music industry still struggles to come to terms with the untimely death of Eric Arubayi, new reports suggest that it may have been as a result of expired medication he took for malaria fever.
The Delta State-born second runner up of the maiden edition of the West Africa Idol, died at a hospital in Delta State over the weekend.
Confirming the demise of the gospel artiste, his brother, Derrick Arubayi, in an exclusive chat with Vanguard, explained that the late Eric took ill after taking an expired drug meant to treat his malaria and typhoid ailment.
He said: “He had malaria and typhoid, which was untreated. It later became worse after he took a medication that had expired and this triggered his liver ailment and afterwards, every other thing just followed at a fast pace before his death.
The only thing that we had to say is that he lived for Christ. We just want the world to know that the name Eric Odafe Arubayi was for a reason beyond the West Africa Idol show.
For that reason, God would make manifest even beyond his glorious ascension.”
The scourge of fake/expired drugs has been an issue Nigeria has been dealing with for a long time. A 2015 NOI poll revealed that 18% of Nigerians have been victims of fake and expired medication.
The late musical icon, born on July 14, 1982, is survived by his wife, a son, who would be two in a few months, two brothers, a sister and parents— Professor and Professor (Mrs) Eric Arubayi.
