Nigerian Air Force Virgin, Allegedly Drugged, Raped By A Superior And Sacked

A Nigerian Air Force personnel, Igbobi Uzezi, who accused one of her superiors, Flight Lieutenant B.S Vibelko, of drugging and raping her in 2011, has sued him along with the Air Force, Chief of Air Staff, and Attorney-General of the Federation, for her unlawful dismissal. .

The suit, number FHC/L/CS/10/17, was filed at the Federal High Court, Lagos Division on January 5, 2017, by the Malachy Ugwummadu Chambers on behalf of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, which is handling the case. .

The court processes state that the “violent rape and sexual assault” of Uzezi was a “flagrant violation of her fundamental rights to life, dignity of human person and personal liberty.” .

Uzezi accused Vibelko of assaulting her on May 17, 2011, with claims that she contracted a sexually transmitted disease in the process. She said in her suit, “I was arrested and detained at the guardroom within the Air Force Base, V.I, Lagos in an inclement and dehumanising condition with hard labour for a period of 14 days from May 9 to 23, 2013, on the orders of the chief of air staff, air officer commandant, and the flight lieutenant, without charging me to a court of law or even making my offences known to me.”

According to the suit, the claimant was again detained within the Air Force Base, Ikeja, Lagos for another 10 days from October 1 to 10, 2015, allegedly on the orders of the names mentioned earlier.

Her lawyers claim that Uzezi was dismissed from service without allowing her a fair hearing on allegations that Vibelko, her former instructor took undue advantage of her “violently drugging and raping her against all known codes of discipline and laws of both the Nigerian Armed Forces Act and Criminal laws of Nigeria.”

Uzezi is asking the court to award her the sum of N500m against the chief of air staff, air officer commandant and also the flight lieutenant as damages for the breach of her fundamental rights. Uzezi joined the Air Force in 2010 at the age of 19. She said she was still a virgin at the time she was allegedly raped.

Single Somali Men Stage Protest Over Outrageous Bride Prices (Must See)

A group of single men have gone public to protest over the inflated dowry in Somalia. In the photos, the Somali men holding signs that read ‘Still I am Single’, where said to have held
their protest at the Mansoor hotel in Hargeisa. According to them, they said the brides’ parents are extorting men through the inflated bride price in the country.

Has marriage become an expensive affair these days where you live? there have been stories of people spending millions of dollars just for that one special day.

There have also been stories of men complaining of what women make them go through for that perfect wedding.

Does what is spent on a wedding say anything about the love between couples and maybe something about how long the marriage is going to last? do these things even matter at all or what matters is that there has been a wedding?

Some men are now up in arms against what they say is an expensive affair to even think of marriage.

Single men in Somaliland who are saying are eligible bachelors are protesting against marriage costs saying day by day they are just spiraling.

According to a story on Somaliland Nation News , to get married in Somaliland, a young man has to have a hefty sum in hand.

Estimates range from US$10000 t0 $15000.

However there are fears that the high costs of marriages, has contributed to a fall in marriage statistics, pushing further and further the age in which young Somaliland men get formally married.

This figures however may make someone in Nigeria or Uganda actually surprised because for such ceremonies in those countries, it is matter of status on that particular day.

In these countries, if you want a wife you must cough your all.

It was only a few months back that religious clerics in Somaliland set the betrothal (meher) price at $500, calling on marrying couples and their families to keep down the cost of marriage and to clip the long process leading to the establishment of a ‘married’ household.

Islam does not condone high dowry prices or extravagant marriage ceremonies.

The protest by the single men had a largely positive, impact on social media circles in the region.

Femi Kuti Condemns 2face’s Planned Nationwide Protest

Femi Kuti – the eldest son of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti – says he’s not in support of 2face Idibia’s nationwide protest planned for Monday, February 6.

Amidst his weekly performance at the Afrika Shrine last night, Femi disclosed that organizers of the 2face protest had come to request the use of the Kuti’s historical venue on Sunday, February 5, while they prepare for the widely reported protest march.

‘I hear say they want to do protest here, they even choose the day Sunday, Sunday is my day,’ he started.

‘So I was thinking, 2face say some people come meet am say make he broadcast am, so no be him sit down for him house com plan am, I for no vex.’

‘Who be the people wey come meet you?’ he questioned.

He stated that there’s something ‘fishy’ about the protest because they planned a ‘coup’ in Nigeria without him and they decided to use the Afrika Shrine.

Femi added that they want to ‘scatter’ his venue because it’s ‘bubbling’, and it may prompt the federal government to close down one of their most valuable properties.

He assured his fans that it won’t happen because he’s not a ‘foolish man’.

Millions of Nigerians are expected to leave their homes, workplace and families to be at the National Stadium in Surulere on Monday morning as they walk through to the National Theatre in Lagos to protest against bad governance in the country.

Zimbabweans Urged To Donate 150 Cows For Mugabe’s 93rd Birthday Which Comes Up On February 21st

Zimbabweans have reportedly been urged to donate at least 150 cattle towards their president Robert Mugabe’s upcoming birthday celebrations later this month.

Mugabe turns 93 on February 21.

The nonagenarian has been in power since 1980 when the southern African country attained its independence from colonial Britain.

Over the past years, the long time ruler has been known for extravagant birthday celebrations – which usually would cost millions of dollars.

According to the state-owned Herald newspaper, this year’s birthday bash organisers said they aimed
at raising at least 150 heads of cattle to feed about 100 000 guests.

A Zanu-PF lawmaker Never Khanye said that the donations were voluntary, but that large-scale farmers in Matabeleland South, where the celebrations would be held, must donate a cow each to show appreciation of the long-time leader.
“We have set a target to raise 150 cattle for the event. We are appealing to well-wishers to do so willingly and not to come again tomorrow and say we were forced.
“All A2 farmers who got offer letters must donate a beast each for this event and those that will fail we will take it that they don’t appreciate what the president has done for them,” Khanye was quoted as saying.
Last month the ruling Zanu-PF youth league said that Mugabe’s birthday should be celebrated like Christmas Day.

The party’s national youth leader, Kudzai Chipanga maintained at the time that the veteran leader’s birthday should not be treated like an “ordinary day”.
“To us, February 21 is not just a day. To us, it is a special day we treat in the same manner Christians treat December 25, the birthday of Jesus Christ. I don’t want to be blasphemous, but in my humble view, President Mugabe is second to Jesus Christ. He is our saviour, so his birthday means a lot for us the youths of Zimbabwe,” Chipanga was quoted as saying.
