Doctors Amputate Veteran Nollywood Actor Tunde Alabi’s Leg After It Was Seriously Affected By Diabetes

Weeks after soliciting for financial assistance to prevent his right leg from being amputated, Veteran Nollywood actor, Tunde Alabi has had that same leg amputated.

The actor, had been battling with diabetes which affected the leg and doctors advised that the leg should be cut off so that it won’t affect other parts of his body.

The operation, according to YMG, was done at a hospital in Surulere area of Lagos on Thursday, 20th October 2016.

Weeks back, when journalists visited the ailing actor who was one of the regular characters in the now rested TV series, the ‘Village Headmaster’ he was reported to be critically ill at the Lagos General hospital and needing financial assistance.

When he was narrating his ordeal, Mr Alabi said he was hale and hearty until the night of 19th of July, when he had a strange expulsion on his right leg which has not only kept the actor off the screen for sometime now, but also has impoverished him.

“I went to bed at about 8. 30 pm that fateful day with the intention of waking up at 1 am. When it was about 9 pm, I had a strange expulsion on my right leg. Immediately, the leg started burning and I screamed throughout the night. The following morning I couldn’t move the leg again. It was a spiritual attack. That’s what has kept me under this condition,” he narrated.

Kemi Olunloyo has revealed she is a victim of Female Genital Mutilation and she is not shy to talk about it.

Kemi in an interview with International Business Times, says her sexual life and mental health were affected after she was mutilated as a child.

According to her, the grave act was committed on her at age five when a family member took she and her sister to meet a man who placed them on his lap and “then cut part of our vagina and clitoral area off.

“There was no anaesthetic and a sharp razor blade was used. I remember my sister and I screaming afterwards,” she said. Adding, “We went home bleeding. Deep down, mom was not happy for some reason.”

Olunloyo told IBTimes UK after years of resentment towards her mother, she finally confronted her in 2012. “She burst into tears telling me that our late paternal grandma ordered my dad to have us do it.”

“It was a cultural barbaric act used to decrease the female libido. It caused me post-traumatic stress disorder for life. I don’t experience orgasm during sex and when I tried to promote the use of sex toys among Nigerian women, men started attacking me saying I was discouraging African women ‘from the real thing.”

“Sex is not important. I have no libido or urge to have sex and I’ve been celibate for 10 years. Millions of women in Nigeria go through this, but they cannot talk or be outspoken like me. It is shameful and a disgrace to them.”

This act is perpetrated by hodlums who are out to blackmail me or tarnish my image and promising career by presenting me in bad light. I wish to say that the said image is certainly not mine by any stretch of imagination.

I am a highly responsible person who was brought up in a family with impeccable reputation. I can therefore not subscribe to such act how much more engage in same.

Despite difficulties in securing funds to sustain the pageant, organizers of Mr Ugly Zimbabwe have insisted that it will be held on November 25.

They say this year is exceptional because a lot of sponsors have come on board and preliminary contests are ongoing in other regions before the main event.

“Mr Ugly pageant is on. The sponsors are there. We have active sponsors, who have come on board … Harare is big and has a lot of people, hence we are having contests in a number of suburbs,” the founder of the pageant, David Machowa told local newspaper News Day.

Mison Sere, the 2015 champion caused a wild uproar after he was crowned for the first time with other participants complaining that he was too handsome for the title.

The contest which gained popularity in 2012 was won on multiple occasions and for the first time that year by William Masvinu, who is a porter and the runner up in last year’s competition.

The 2015 champion Mison Sere won $500 and the runner up took home $100. Both of them have joined the preliminary contest and hope to win this year.
