The beautiful young lady you see above is Olabisi – a very rare kinda Nigerian female who voluntarily went into carpentry because it is her dream, and she is very proud of the path she has taken.

Speaking on her decision to tread where few ladies dare, she said:

So about a week ago, I started my self carpentry training..waow!thanks to YouTube and the free carpentry books online. I had actually thought it’s going to be an easy ride but eish….it’s not been easy and neither is it as difficult as I was told it would be.

The beautiful thing is, this journey is revealing to me much more than ever that God is a God of process. Therefore, no pressure! Whether I succeed or fail is inconsequential, I am open enough to take the risk to fail. No pressure. No quest for instant gratification. No immediate result needed. For me, its all about enjoying the process.

Photos: Indian Boy With His Head Permanently Hanging Upside Down At A 180-degree Angle Undergoes Successful Life Changing Surgery

A 13-year-old Indian boy born with a rare condition which caused his head to hang at an extreme angle has had a major surgery that finally allows him to see the world right-side-up.

Mahendra Ahirwar, from Madhya Pradesh, India, was born with a rare condition that caused his neck muscles to be so weak that his head hung to one side.

Because his neck was crooked, he was unable to stand or walk and could not eat or go to the bathroom without assistance.

Now, at age 13, Mahendra has been given the opportunity of a lifetime, thanks to a mother who lives 4,000 miles away.

Julie Jones from Liverpool, England, read Mahendra’s story online and started a fundraising campaign which raised nearly $15,000 to pay for an operation to fix his neck, says DNA India.

Now, thanks to Jones’ kindness, Mahendra is able to perform normal tasks and can go to school with others his age.

This afternoon 10th October 2016 in the front entrance of the popular jankara market close to Spencer house trouble started when an Northerner (malam) held another malam to his clothes demanding him to restore his manhood, therefore passerby’s asked the Northerner to leave him but he began to explain what transpired between them, he said the malam ask him about vehicle that would take him to oshodi from idumota and after he gave him directions he noticed something had gone off his body so he quickly checked below only to find out his joystick (di*k) had become smaller than what it used to be like before, he claimed it was the other malam that jazzed (juju) him, so he demanded it to be restored, he even had to bring out the di*ck for all to see both males and females were all to view it free… He said its smaller than, that it used to be bigger than that,even passionate plea was made to any female who could please help him to caress his joystick to see if it would rise again.”

Photos: Mad Woman Apprehended With Bank Tellers, 25 SIM Cards, 2 ATM Cards And Phone

Twenty five SIM cards, two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, different bank tellers and a working mobile telephone were yesterday recovered from a supposedly mad woman, pictured below, at Oshodi bus stop, Lagos State.

The woman, it was learnt, has been living at the spot in the last two years. The items were discovered when the officials of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), who wanted to use the place, tried to evacuate her.

An NRC official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to NewTelegraph, said the discovery of the SIM cards, ATM cards and bank tellers came to them as a surprise. He said:

“The woman has being living at the spot for some time now.

Recently, a canteen was built close to the spot where she is sitting, but some people who patronise the canteen always complain about the presence of the woman. To our surprise, when we were about to evacuate her from the spot, about 25 SIM cards, two ATM cards, different bank tellers and a phone were recovered from her. We don’t want another incident similar to that of Clifford Orji where human parts were recovered.

We suspect the woman has someone she is working for. We are going to hand her over to the task force because we don’t want to take chances. The woman was behaving normally when we moved close to her, but suddenly she started putting up a strange behaviour and pretending to be a lunatic. We don’t see her to be what she is claiming.”

A trader, who identified herself simply as Rebecca, told NewTelegraph that she did not believe the woman was a lunatic.

“She used to come to my shop to buy detergent to wash her clothes and to bathe. I was surprised when she started behaving strangely now.

Whenever she comes to buy from me, she always comes with crisp N500 notes. “There was a day I closed late, I saw someone who parked beside the road and was discussing with the woman. But I did not hear what they were saying.

Out of curiosity, I went to her the following day to ask her who the person was. She said those who come to visit her were her family members. Government should clear lunatics from Oshodi and its environs,” she said.

Another trader, who did not want her name in print, said the woman never begged for alms from passers-by. She said:

 “We also want the police to beam their searchlight on that angle, because she was not soliciting alms from people. They should ask her where she is getting the money she is spending from, because we don’t want to lose our children in the market.”

“Price Of Rice Will Fall By November” – Minister of Agriculture Assures Nigerians

The Federal Government has declared that the price of rice would start to fall from November this year. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, said this in Abuja yesterday while addressing members of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.

According to him, more Nigerians have returned to their various farms and by the next harvesting season next month, the price of rice would start to crash.

Ogbeh who also stressed that his ministry would not encourage rice importation because it would be detrimental to local production said:

“We will not encourage rice importation and there is no way our ministry or government can be involved in importing rice when we are working hard to be self-sufficient in local production. By November when the full-scale harvest starts, rice prices will fall,” the minister said.

Early last month, the government had warned that the price of rice might hit N40,000 a bag. It is currently being sold around N20,000.

The Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, had said that the $22bn annual food import bill had led to the astronomical rise in the price of rice and other commodities.

He stressed that if Nigerians failed to produce some of the items being imported before December, the price of rice could skyrocket to N40,000 a bag.

Obianuju singer, Duncan Mighty has joined the list of celebrities such as Segun Arinze, Stephanie Linus and Omoni Oboli to speak out strongly against child marriage.

Yesterday, the 32-year-old singer took to his Instagram page to share a photo of a young African girl that was married off to a far older man and wrote this;

“Please my people, lend your voices to End child marriages. Many child brides develop fistula as a result of early pregnancy that subsequently will either kill them or render them disabled for life.” Duncan Mighty wrote, adding, “This little child needs a PENCIL not a P-NIS.”

In 2013, the Nigerian Senate came under attack after it approved a bill sponsored by former Zamfara State governor Ahmed Yerima, that would recognize child brides as adults, effectively legalizing marriages to minors. Senator Yerima, who himself married a 13-year old Egyptian girl in 2010, has long been an advocate of child marriages, claiming it is Islamic and sanctioned by the Koran.

Statistics given by girlsnotbrides.org show that 43% of girls in Nigeria are married off before their 18th birthday while 17% are married before they turn 15. Also, in the Northern part of Nigeria, there are high levels of Vesico Vagina Fistulae (VVF) cases which is predominantly caused by early childbirth.

A new report by Save the Children says that conflict, poverty and humanitarian crises are seen as major factors that leave girls exposed to child marriage. The report also posits that one girl under the age of 15 is married every seven seconds

Families in countries where gender equality is disregarded are said to marry off their daughters as a way to protect them against poverty or sexual exploitation.

UNICEF estimates that child brides will grow from 700 million today to around 950 million by 2030.
