Jairam Singhal, 42, has been drinking cow pee for over a decade and was keen to testify to its health benefits

‘I had diabetes, but ever since I have started drinking cow urine, my diabetes levels have been under control,’ Jairam said.

‘Someone told me drinking cow urine is good for health.

Followers of the cult claim cow urine can successfully be used to combat cancer, diabetes, tumours, tuberculosis, stomach problems and much more.

They also claim that drinking cow pee is the only effective solution for treating baldness
‘Lots of people come here. And of late, the numbers have been rising. We all gather in the morning and drink fresh urine that Mother cow offers us,’ Singhal said

Many say the recent increase in the number of people drinking cow urine can be attributed to campaigns run by spiritual leaders

‘Only two things are pure in this universe, in this world. One is the water from the Holy Ganges river and the other is urine from mother holy cow,’ Ramesh Gupta, a Hindu priest, said.
‘Cow urine has been mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures. No one can doubt the good effects it has on the human body. It is a divine gift from God.’
Followers like Gupta, however, insist that urine from every cow cannot be beneficial.’The cow, whose urine one has to drink, should be a virgin – she must not have delivered a calf. Also, the urine is to be collected just before sunrise – that urine has the best effect,’ he said.

However, there are people who oppose the claims made by preachers.
‘People keep saying all kinds of things about cow urine, but we don’t mind. People don’t know what this is. They have never experienced the taste of cow urine or its effects, so how can they judge it,’ Singhal said.

‘It is just a matter of time before people realise the utility of cow urine.’
He is now eyeing to cash in on the growing trend and has plans to start manufacturing cow urine products on a commercial scale.

‘We can manufacture eye drops, medicines for stomach ailments, toothpaste, bathing soaps, herbal powdered medicine, among other things, from cow urine,’ he said.
‘Many cow shelters are manufacturing these products. There is a lot of demand for these products. They have good sales.’

“There Is No Easy Solution To Nigeria’s Problems” – President Buhari Says In Independence Speech

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday, admitted that there was no easy solution to myriads of problems bedevilling Nigeria.

In a nationwide broadcast to commemorate the country’s 56th Independence Day anniversary, the President, however, assured Nigerians that his administration was pursuing the solutions available to it with a view to repositioning the country. Buhari said it was normal for countries to face ups and downs, while attributing the economic recession in the country to a shortage of foreign exchange and violence by the Niger Delta militants.

According to him, the problems are temporary.

He said, “The recession has been brought about by a critical shortage of foreign exchange. Oil price dropped from an average of $100 per barrel over the last decade to an average of $40 per barrel this year and last.

“Worse still, the damage perpetrated by Niger Delta thugs on pipelines reduced Nigeria’s production to below one million barrels per day against the normal 2.2 million barrels per day. Consequently, the naira is at its weakest, but the situation will stabilise.

“But this is only temporary. Historically, about half of our dollar export earnings went to importation of petroleum products and food. Nothing was saved for a rainy day during the periods of prosperity. We are now reaping the whirlwinds of corruption, recklessness and impunity.

“There are no easy solutions, but there are solutions nonetheless. The government is pursuing them in earnest. We are to repair our four refineries so that Nigeria can produce most of our petrol requirements locally, pending the coming on stream of new refineries. That way, we will save $10bn yearly.”

Residents of Olakula area of Idiroko in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State were left shocked on

Wednesday as maggots dropped continuously from the private parts of a woman identified as Iya Toheeb.

The scene turned chaotic as residents trooped out to see the woman sat in a car with the assistance of family members and sympathisers.It was thought that she might have been a victim of money-making ritual after her condition allegedly defied orthodox medication.

The Nation learnt that the woman was also brought to one of the men she was associated with, a carpenter in the community. Of the reason for bringing the afflicted woman to the man, a source at the scene who asked not to be named, said:

“The woman was brought to the carpenter who was her former husband. Her family members believed that the man may be responsible for her worsening condition that defied treatment in hospital where she was admitted for months.“Doctors were said to have advised her relatives to seek alternative medicine to her ill-health because it had gone beyond the purview of orthodox medicine.’’

Another source, who did not want her name in print, said:

“The woman had dated different men in the past and it is believed that she may have been used for money-making ritual going by what we heard from those who know her.
“She has no wound in her private part yet maggots keep dropping from her sexual organ and that sends a signal that there is more to her problem than meets the eye, particularly since doctors have asked her relatives to seek help from native doctors for solution to her problem.”

It was learnt that the carpenter, whose real name could not be ascertained at press time, made remarks that suggested the woman was being punished for her promiscuity, after which the woman’s family members decided to bring her to him for possible solution her predicament. The carpenter reportedly fled before the arrival of The Nation’s correspondent.

At the scene, sympathisers helped spread a sack on the car seat on which the woman sat when the maggots continued to drop even as a stench emanating from her body fouled the air. “This is what my beauty has done to me o,” said the woman shortly before being taken away by her family members.

After so many failed attempts at trying to change his sexual orientation, Ibe said that he became so frustrated and depressed, and felt that the only thing that could take away the feeling was to completely cut off his own pe.nis. He said;

“I planned a lot. At first I planned on cutting my pe.nis but my conscience couldn’t let me. I wanted to kill myself”

So far, nothing has changed for Ibe, as he still identifies as gay. He said;

“I so love my fellow man. Sometimes I want to live with one”

Ibe said that he is currently struggling with school and needs help. He said;

“I need to get a job that can fetch me enough money to register for my exams, but getting a job has been very tough for me”

My dad was and is still a strict disciplinarian,mum on the other hand was a bit soft on us and let us have our way. She practically covered for and took sides with me especially (being her only daughter amongst 3 sons).

I got out of hand and starting moving with the wrong set of friends, got pregnant at age 11 (primary 5)and then my whole world crumbled. The harsh reality of life began to unfold as I had to drop out of school, I couldn’t sit for my First School Leaving Certificate Examination(FSLC).
People in my neighbourhood made mockery of me my dad couldn’t bare it, so he sent me out of the house and I had to go to the village to live with my grandma. In order to survive and fend for myself (as grandma isn’t working) I had to summon courage and face my own devil, I knew I was the cause of my predicaments and didn’t put the blame on my mum or anyone.
I started street hawking selling all sorts ranging from tapioca (kpokpo garri), roasted pork meat, roasted maggots, Madiga bread, sachet water etc. Few months later I had my baby,saved some cash (through hawking) which I used to re-enroll for my FSLC, I passed with a “merit”.
Still in the street hawking business, I saw myself through secondary school, I was determined to show my folks that I truly regretted my actions and is now a serious child. Enrolled for WAEC cleared all my papers likewise my JAMB and then gained admission into the university.

When my dad saw how focused I had become, they took my child and I back, sent me off to the university and took care of my baby. To cut the long story short, I’m now a M.ed holder from the University of Lagos State Akoka, a successful teacher and happily married by His grace.
