Star actress Funke Akindele, 39, and music producer and singer Abdul Rasheed Bello, also 39, kept their Wednesday, August 24, 2016, wedding (staged in London, the United Kingdom) very private and secret to give the union a big chance of survival.
Since the marriage is Akindele’s second and the first for Bello who has four children from three relationships, keeping their affair away from the public and organising a low key nuptials would afford the liaison a better chance of survival, insiders who spoke to Encomium.ng revealed.
“The couple (better known as Jenifa and Skillz) kept their families dully informed about their relationship. They have practically done the introduction ceremony, and what happened yesterday in London was a formalization of the union”, a source close to them told us. “It is untrue that they kept their families out of the ceremony yesterday. Funke’s parents and her siblings were aware. Skillz children and some family members also attended the event.”
One insider disclosed to Encomium.ng, “lf you have been the subject of gossip, experienced a loud separation from your marriage and faced the backlash from all sorts of people, you will understand why they decided to go to London. Don’t forget that Skillz was based in London, he only relocated to Nigeria a few years ago. His family is there, his home is there.”
Another source volunteered, “There is no way they would have succeeded as much with a quieter wedding in Lagos. One way or another, the secret would have been leaked.
“Based on their circumstances and experiences , what they did yesterday was the best. Many people thought Funke and ABDUL went for a short holiday in London. That at best , her 39th birthday would be staged there. And they were pleasantly surprised when the news of a wedding took wings.”
At the ceremony yesterday , none of Funke Akindele’s siblings (Olubunmi, Papa and Mama) and her parents attended. But one of Bello’s children was visibly active.
Ikorodu, Lagos born Olufunke Ayotunde Akindele is the second of four children. Her mother is a doctor and father retired school principal.
