Boko Haram aligning themselves with ISIS is frightening - Sanusi

Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank, Mohammadu Sanusi II says the idea of Boko Haram aligning themselves with international terror group, ISIS is frightening. He said this in an interview with CNN's Chief Correspondence, Christine Amanpour which aired last night.

"The idea of Boko Haram or anyone aligning themselves with ISIS is frightening partly because these are groups that represent a lunatic fringe in Islam and who are very ruthless. We have had more than six years of Boko Haram , about 15,000 people dead, prospects of them getting financial support, military support from a group as ISIS basically frightens all of us" he said

The Emir said he is not scared of being killed if that would be the ultimate prize to pay to have peace return to the North East. According to him, he has achieved all he wants to achieve...

"First of all if I had a way of knowing what would happen if Boko Haram took my life they would stop killing people in Nigeria, then I will give up my life. I have nothing else to live for. I have achieved everything I wanted to achieve. I think the important thing is for every Muslim leader to speak up and for the Muslims to let the world know that this is not Islam, for the society not to accept them and for the society not to give them accommodation. for the state to protect the people to the best of its ability and for their genuine grievances to be addressed" he said

He also spoke on the $20 billion he alleged was missing from the coffers of the NNPC. Watch the full interview here

Dear LIB readers: What should my friend do?

From a female LIB reader who needs answers for her friend...

I have this friend who is in a dilemma, she got married to her husband 3yrs ago after dating for a year. While they were dating, things seemed really great. Few months to their wedding she took in and of course they moved their wedding date closer.

About 2months after marriage, her husband started cheating on her with different women. When she found this out, she was terribly devastated. Her hubby apologised but was never remorseful for what he did and started treating her like a stranger. Their son is 2yrs old now and the cheating is getting even worse. All her efforts to get him to talk about his way of life and repentance always ends up in a quarrel. She's a shadow of herself now and contemplating divorce. We need advise please

Benjamin Netanyahu Claims Victory In Israels Elections

Bibi-307

Benjamin Netanyahu appears poised to keep his job as Israel’s Prime Minister, declaring victory Wednesday following a bitter campaign

punctuated by his last-minute appeals to right-wing voters.

For weeks, Netanyahu’s Likud party trailed in opinion polls to the Zionist Union alliance that characterized him as a divisive leader not up to the task of making the lives of ordinary Israelis better.

Those polls turned out to be wrong.

Instead, the Likud party grabbed at least 29 of the 120 seats in the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, according to unofficial numbers from the Israeli election committee, based on 99% of the vote. Its leaders will have the first chance at forming a coalition government.

The Zionist Union came in second, with at least 24 seats.

“Against all odds, against all odds, we achieved this huge victory for Likud,” Netanyahu told jubilant supporters not long after the polls closed Tuesday. “We achieved the huge victory for our people. And I am proud, I am proud for the people of Israel that in the moment of truth, knew to make the right decision and to choose the real material things over immaterial things.”

Rather than courting voters in the middle, Netanyahu pivoted more to the right with appeals concerning Israel’s security.

Two weeks ago, he made a controversial speech to the U.S. Congress warning of any deal with Iran on its nuclear program. Then, a few days ago, he declared there would be no Palestinian state so long as he’s Prime Minister — reversing an earlier position and putting him at odds again with the Obama administration’s support for a two-state solution.

On Tuesday, he released a video on Facebook claiming leftists were bringing “huge amounts” of Arabs by bus to vote against Likud. Arabs make up about 20% of Israel’s population.

“The right regime is in danger,” Netanyahu said. “We have an urgent wake-up call. Bring your friends, bring your family, vote for Likud.”

Those appeals appear “to have energized that right-wing base,” according to CNN’s Elise Labott.

Netanyahu still has to form a new government, a process that President Reuven Rivlin said he hopes will start Sunday. If the Likud leader does so — as expected — it will leave Israel not much different than it was before the election, with a conservative Netanyahu still the dominant force facing a dug-in opposition.
