GEJ fired SURE-P boss for attending Obasanjo’s birthday event?

That's the trending discussion right now on social media. Presidential spokesperson Reuben Abati a few hours ago announced the sack of SURE-P boss, Martin Luther Agwai, and now there are reports that he was sacked for attending former president Obasanjo’s birthday event last week.

Premium Times reports

Premium Times understands reliably that Mr. Agwai was fired for flouting a presidential instruction that no government official or member of the ruling PDP, should attend the birthday event of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, last week.

Sources within the presidency told Premium Times that all government functionaries were instructed by President Jonathan to boycott Mr. Obasanjo’s birthday event.

Our sources said when informed of the president’s warning, Mr. Agwai, who climbed to the pinnacle of his career under the Obasanjo administration, said he will go ahead and attend the function, more so, in view of the president’s directive. Our sources said for daring the president, it was clear Mr. Agwai would be fired.

One source said it appears Mr. Agwai was informed ahead of the announcement of his removal Tuesday, as the former defence chief arrived early at the SURE-P office to pack his belongings.

Mr. Agwai himself replaced Christopher Kolade, who left office after criticising the president

APC debunks myth of Buhari's one term as President (if elected)

Press statement from the APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked the myth being peddled by the PDP that Gen. Buhari will spend only one term in office if elected President, saying it is the creation of the PDP which is seeking to play a section of the country against another.

"The APC will not abridge the right of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to spend the constitutionally-guaranteed two terms as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria if elected in the March 28th poll,'' the party said in a statement issued in Lagos on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

''No conditionality whatsoever was attached to Gen. Buhari's candidacy. He won the party primaries fair and square in a globally-acclaimed transparent manner, and he was neither a compromise nor a consensus candidate, hence there is no need for him to make a deal with anyone.

''We are therefore telling Nigerians to disregard the tales by the moonlight which some PDP elements are yarning, in their desperation to muddle the waters ahead of the forthcoming elections and create disaffection between a section of the country and another,'' it said.

APC said it had ignored the myth all long because it was being peddled by fringe elements in the PDP, but decided to put the record straight once and for all after those who were thought to be saner elements in the ruling party started parroting the same incredulous lies.

''This myth that Buhari will spend one term, after which power will return to the South-west, is along the same line as the outlandish claim that our Vice Presidential Candidate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has sworn to an oath to resign in favour of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu once elected.

''The question to ask is: When will the PDP stop this campaign of calumny and character assassination against our candidates and leaders? When will they stop this one-day, one-lie nonsense?

''The truth is that Gen. Buhari's candidacy has brought out the worst in the PDP leadership and supporters, including Mr. President and his wife. Unfortunately for them, the more they campaign against our candidate, the more popular he becomes. Perhaps the PDP would have stood a better chance of winning the forthcoming polls if its State Governors, in particular, have devoted as much time and energy to running their states as they have devoted to maligning Gen. Buhari,'' the party said.

Nigerians have become refugees - Mama Blessings Agboli

The United Nations has said that thousands of Nigerians who escaped attacks by Boko Haram are stuck on some of the countless little islands that dot Lake Chad and are in dire need of food, water and shelter.Chad’s Lake Region is one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world.

The current situation is quite complex, due to the influx of Nigerians in Chad there has been an economic situation which has lead Chad closing its ground borders to Nigerians and in Nigeria political tension threatens naira.

The naira has crashed through the key level of 200 to the dollar this week in a rout sparked by weak oil prices and escalating tension over the postponement of a presidential election. To this mama blessings Agboli wife of renowned preacher and senior pastor victorious army ministries, Rev. Dominic Agboli reacts "our economy is crashing right before us and Nigerians have become refugees in neighbouring countries why can't We put our differences aside and collectively create a centre where these homeless Nigerians can find succour? If We continue like this what future does the Country hold for us and our children" while emphasizing that security centers where provision of food and other basics has become imperative.
