Three police officers and four firefighters entered the river to rescue the child and took her to the hospital. Police told reporters that they will not be releasing any further details about the baby unless her condition changes. The girl's name was also not released.

Alibaba reacts after friends tell him his Urhobo attire to AMVCA was inapproriate

The comedian took to his instagram page to air his annoyance at some journalist friends of his who told him the traditional/Urhobo attire he wore to the AMVCAs over the weekend was not right. What he posted below ...

"Trust you had a great weekend. I did. And had been looking forward to sharing something with you. So, I have also been looking for a clear picture of me that was taken at the #AMVCA ... The closest I could come upon is this courtesy @NET... But it's not about the picture itself. It was about someone who claims to be a Fashion Critic...... who made a comment that I thought I should harp on. She said, "Bros, didn't you get the invite? It said 'black tie' "... herself and a few of her fashion buffs had a laugh at my expense. So I let the laugh settle down and I asked, did you read the part that said "black tie or Glamorous?"

I then saw one of them quickly bring her card holder invite holder out, read the dress code portion and shoved it back in the case. The dumbest of the four, who is also on television, said something like, but this is not glamorous. So I pointed at Kunle Afolayan, who was decked in AGBADA. And she was sucked in to my trick. "Eheeeeen! That is glamorous." Her cronies agreed. So I dropped my joker. 'Really? So it's only the traditional attire from the YORUBA or Hausa speaking part of Nigeria that is glamorous? Is that what you were taught in school? Or is that the position of your media house? Or is that all your knowledge about fashion availed you? May be you are TRIBALISTIC. May be you think AFRICANS must look like a white man to be glamorous! May be you have no values! By the way, I thought this was an AFRICAN magic viewers' choice awards (notice the capital letters)? At this point, 2 of them started that line that signals they had gotten the message... "Bros you are correct, but you know we were just teasing you. HABA! Can't you take a joke?" My point was made and I walked off. The problem we have in this country is not totally our government's failures. It is also the failure of many of us to know what is important to us as AFRICANS and what we should value in our culture. ATTIRE for journalist WEY no recognize glamorous ATTIRE. As for any journalist that thinks dressing in my traditional outfit meant for special occasions is not glamorous, please check a dictionary and revert!#broadcasters #fashionPolice #AfricanCulture #UrhoboAttire #

20yr old daughter of Nassarawa state governor's aide beheaded by ritualists

Barely two months after the 7-month pregnant daughter of Nassarawa state governor's campaign manager, Musa Illu, Amina Suleiman was beheaded by unknown gunmen at her husband's home in Katsina state, yet another daughter of another aide of the Governor has been beheaded by suspected ritual killers.

20-year-old Memuna Galadima, (pictured inset above) the daughter of Mustapha Galadima, the Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to Governor Umaru Al-Makura was on Feb. 26 found dead along the Agwan Ozoro, in the Karshi development area of Nasarawa State.

Narrating his ordeal to Punch, her father, Mustapha Galadima said his Nasarawa Sate University undergraduate daughter had gone to her school to write a test and never returned.

“It was on Thursday, February 26, 2015. My daughter left home for school to sit for a test at the Pianku campus along Nasarawa Road along with three of her friends" he said.

Mustapha said after waiting endlessly for his daughter return, he was informed that her decomposing body was found inside a well along Agwan Ozoro, in the Karshi development area of Nasarawa State.

“Upon hearing the news, I mobilised people to go there and check if it were her remains that were found. On reaching there, the search team told me that the body had decomposed beyond recognition. They added that the body was found inside a deep well, saying several attempts made to remove the corpse from the well were unsuccessful. It was when the police brought her picture that we were able to identify her through her legs and there was nothing we could do but to bury her there according to Muslim injunctions. She had been in Keffi for the past three years with her mother, who is also an undergraduate at the department of accountancy of the same institution"he said

Confirming the incident, the state Police spokesperson, ASP Umaru Ismaila, said investigations into the matter is ongoing.

APC to drag First Lady to International Criminal Court

APC says it has concluded plans to drag the first Lady Patience Jonathan before the International Criminal Court over her recent remarks at the PDP Presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross Rivers state where she called on people to stone anyone who chanted Change around them.

The APC said Mrs Jonathan's comment was calling on PDP supporters in the state to attack members of the APC. The party likened Mrs Jonathan to the former First Lady of Cote d’Ivoire, Mrs Laurent Gbagbo who was indicted by the ICC over matters bothering on election crisis in 2010 during her husband's re-election

"Change, as the entire country knows by now, is the slogan of the APC – the rallying cry of a political party that wishes to bring hope of greater and better things to come for Nigeria and Nigerians. “By her statement, Mrs. Jonathan was clearly calling on the PDP supporters in Calabar to attack supporters and campaigners of the APC in the state. Mrs. Jonathan does not occupy any formal office in the Nigerian government as the position of the First Lady is not recognised by the Nigerian constitution. But Mrs. Gbagbo’s case shows the ICC’s awareness of how someone beyond formal governmental and military hierarchies can be identified as responsible for serious international crimes. Patience Jonathan’s incontrovertible hate speech not only contravened the laws of the land, but also went completely against the Abuja peace accord jointly signed by the two presidential candidates, Muhammadu Buhari and President Goodluck Jonathan – a gesture which is aimed at forestalling violence before, during and after the 2015 elections. The PDP supporters in the state, who may not know better, could easily yield themselves to the First Lady’s admonition and embark on a process of wanton stoning and other attacks against the APC members.”the party said

The party says the letter to the ICC is signed by the APC Presidential Campaign Director and Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Ameachi and would be forwarded to the ICC today March 9th. It also said that the Inspector General of the Police and the National Human Rights Commission would also be sent copies of the letter.
